Gianfranco, better known as Franco, has worked in Private Tertiary Education for 16 years. He started as an administrator and grew from each of his positions within academic operations, governance, policy implementation, procedures, and administration. He has a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA). He is now in the early stages of pursuing his Doctoral with a focus in the Education Sector. His interest lies in the development and advancements made in the mode of delivery of education through new ways, particularly due to the impact the pandemic has had globally.

Franco’s daily drive and inspiration comes from the students and the prospect of their futures. He believes he works as a servant to them. Their personal growth and success are the most important aspects to his work.

If he were to give advice to anyone entering the field, he would say, “Make sure it’s not just a job you love but also a passion filled with love. If you love what you do you will never work a day in your life and if you have love in what you do you will impact students in a meaningful way.” His advice to students is, “Put in the hard work required! Education is not a form of instant gratification. It takes time, perseverance, dedication, and hard work. The good news is that you are not alone, and we have all been there before.”

Dr Alexia Cox is the Executive Dean of Academic Strategy & Planning and has obtained her Doctorate from Stellenbosch University in a transdisciplinary field of Human Resource Management and English Literature. She has dedicated her corporate career to ensuring others succeed through learning and thus in their careers. Her decision to move permanently in the tertiary Education sector came from her passion to ensure that students were ready and employable for the world of work. Dr Alexia Cox believes that education is the key to developing conscious students and future leaders.

Dr Alexia Cox has extensive international experience in both lecturing and corporate facilitation and her passion is in developing learning strategies that meet the needs of the business and watching students flourish on their learning journey.

As the Executive Dean of Academic Strategy and Planning, she provides leadership, mentoring and focuses on continuous improvement in all aspects of teaching and learning across all brands and in all faculties that inspire and assure lecturer and academic development; the evolution of innovative curricular and pedagogy for both contact and distance delivery.

She is a dedicated and ambitious individual who is committed to providing future-focused leadership that will drive student engagement and support; and a culture and service devoted to the learning experience and successful employability of the student.

Dr. Marietjie Pienaar is currently the Dean of Academic Operations at Educor. She leads Educor’s academic operations and is responsible for providing overall leadership, monitoring, and process management. Also, she has over 32 years of experience working at all levels of public and private education. She has been a teacher, lecturer, Head of Department, and Academic Director. Her academic background includes BCom (Ed), B.Ed., M.Ed., and Ph.D. in teaching and learning. She is a person who is positive about every aspect of life. She lives by the words of Virat Kohli, “Self-belief and hard work will always earn you success.”

Tamara Kenny is the Dean for Institutional Planning and Quality Assurance at Educor. She has a Master of Arts in Drama and Film Studies from the University of Pretoria and has spent over 20 years in the higher education sector. Tamara is a dynamic and engaged educationalist, passionate about the promotion of quality higher education, with a specific focus on the academic planning, educational policy and systems. It is her personal goal to play an active role in enhancing the quality of higher education as well as improving education systems as a means through which to provide greater access.

Amenda Raganya is a lecturer based at Damelin, Menlyn campus. She is a committed IT Lecturer with 10 years’ experience in lecturing students from various social and cultural backgrounds. She possesses excellent writing skills and constructive and effective teaching methods that promote a stimulating learning environment. She believes education is a symbiotic relationship with students to share information and learn from each other. She is eager to learn from her students and driven daily to share her knowledge with them. Her motto is: Reach for the top because the bottom is overcrowded.

She has been a lecturer on the Diploma in Journalism and Media Studies, at Damelin Cape Town City Campus since October 2013. Further to lecturing, she is also a media specialist and linguist in the media industry. Her postgraduate studies include Psycholinguistics, with a focus on 2nd language speaking, and intercultural communication. As a lecturer, she is inspired to watch the metamorphosis of students from the time they arrive as first years, to their proud graduation moment. Carol spent a long time in the corporate environment, and the contrast between the latter and the Education industry, is pleasing. Carol had received the Sanlam (Babette Taute) Award during her Honours year, and a scholarship at University of Stellenbosch for her Masters studies. Before she started at Damelin she was the recipient of an EU scholarship and did research at the University of Granada.

Jaco has lectured on the Damelin Menlyn campus for the past 6 years. He teaches business related subjects over a range of programmes, spanning first to final years of study. The field of business management is not only interesting, but exciting because of its real-life application in day-to-day life, in a business context as well as personal life. The key to being successful in life is hard work and persistence. Education is a valuable tool in helping you achieve both personal and professional goals.

Joshua Riley is a lecturer at Damelin College, Mowbray, in Cape Town and teaches Sound Technology. He is responsible for lecturing and overseeing the content creation and direction of the Sound Technology course. As a lecturer, he loves teaching and inspiring students towards the field of expertise and helping them leave with a well-furnished toolbox of skills that will propel them into being successful audio engineers. The sound and music industry sees rapid growth because of the digitalisation of music streaming and easier access to music creation tools. We explore every avenue of the sound industry and at the end of a student’s studies, he or she will have a clear understanding of what area of specialisation within the filed to go into.

Leean is a dedicated senior lecturer and programme co-ordinator with over 12 years’ experience at Damelin Overport. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours in Management and teaches on the Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing and Business Management, information Management, the Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Management, Marketing Management, the FET: Project Management/ Human Resource Management and ICB: Business Literacy. Leeann uses a variety of teaching and learning methods to create a conducive environment for students learning from various social and cultural backgrounds. Business management is a module that can assist and guide students in establishing and maintaining a business.  The most rewarding aspect of her job is knowing that she has in some way impacted positively on the lives of her students. Mr. Tendency Beretu currently works at Damelin College, Mowbray campus in Cape Town. He is a lecturer in Business Management and his responsibility is to lecture all the related modules across our BCOM and BASS degree programmes.

As a lecturer, he enjoys developing students’ minds and teaching them how to start, develop and run a business. He was inspired to enter this field by his own lecturers who brought him into teaching during his second year as a tutor till becoming a part time lecturer. His supervisor on his Master’s was his biggest inspiration and motivation in the academic arena. He says that the most rewarding aspect is seeing students succeed not just academically, but also having a positive behavioural change which aligns the content learnt to the reality. For anyone wanting to enter the field of academia and lecturing, he would say that passion accompanied by compassion are key aspects for an academic. The motto that motivated him is “You hold the key to your success or failure, so the choice is yours.” He has published 3 articles with 2 articles awaiting publication.

Keshnie Govender is the Academic Manager at the Damelin, Menlyn campus. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA), Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and a Bachelor of Criminology Honours (BCRIM) degree from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She is an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa and a member of the Council of the South African Judicial Education Institute (SAJEI). Ms Govender has had extensive experience both in academia as well as in legal practice. Her research interests include Gender and Human Rights, Access to Justice and Legal Education. She is firm believer that there is nothing more rewarding than knowing and seeing the evidence that you have made an impact on someone’s life or multiple lives. “Learning is not attained by chance; it must be sought for with ardour and attended to with diligence”.

Rekha is a passionate advocate for education with a strong desire to shape minds. With over 18 years working in professional environments and leading teams, she has gained professional experience and a wealth of knowledge. She says that the most rewarding aspect of her job is the opportunity to mentor others and help them achieve their goals to create a thriving career. The best advice she can impart to prospective students is “Success does not come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently.”

Rodley is a Computer Science and Education specialist with 12 years top level management experience in the education, training, and development sector. Highly involved in educational transformation through strategic integration of technology, research, and innovation which transcends basic provisioning of quality student-centric learning and development. Technology driven learning has been thrust at the core of human development considering enormous global challenges that threaten the very norms of human existence. “When something is important enough, you do it even if the odds are not in your favour.” Elon Mask.

Roseline Moraba is the Academic Manager at Damelin Pretoria City Campus. She is responsible for all aspects of academic operations, teaching and learning, student support, and integrated quality assurance on a campus. Roseline has a passionate desire to provide leadership with regards to the development and implementation of strategies, academic policies, and processes. She finds her position to be rewarding by the positive outcomes achieve which were influenced by her guidance and inspiration. She is a born leader and believes her strong personality, her professional development and personal growth demonstrates her leadership. She says that her HOD from university, was her greatest influencer in her career and was inspired by his academic and personal philosophies. She believes the latest trend in her field is the advancement of technology that increases the efficiency and effectiveness of businesses and interaction with students.

Valerie John holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. Valerie joined the Educor Group in 1998 as a Head of School and has progressed to Head the Damelin and Central Technical College National Academic Office in the capacity of National Academic Operations Manager. She has contributed to the development and quality assurance of academic policies and procedures as well as the management of the teaching and learning process to ensure academic integrity across the Damelin and CTC brands. Her experience within the academic regulatory environment has provided the groundwork to ensure compliance with the relevant Education, Training and Quality Assurance bodies within the South African education environment.

She was then promoted to the HET and FET Co-ordinator in 2010 and held the position for 6years. She has since worked in various departments, obtaining a large set of skills and grew to be the FET and WIL coordinator. In 2019 she moved to another campus within as FET Full Time and Part Time Coordinator. Miss Maseko graduated from Damelin, Menlyn, with a BCOM Marketing and Business Management while also working as a full-time employee. She sees herself growing and excelling further as a professional academic. She has a deep-rooted passion and desire to share her skills and educate students. She wishes to encourage them to be the best at what they do within their fields of study and future careers.
